Have you ever met someone that loved their job so much, that they can't help but be good at it? Or maybe you've witnessed someone working "in their element" where their every action seems to come naturally and easily.

Since 1995, DJ'ing has been one of my life's true passions. When I'm behind the turntables at a wedding or school dance, or out on the dancefloor interacting with the crowd, I'm in Heaven. Time flies by, and before I know it, the night is over.

I continue to improve my DJ skills through relentless practicing and studying. My philosophy on DJing can be summed up by the old Hindu proverb that says, "the goal is not to be better than the other man, but to be better than your previous self".

I currently live in Sioux Falls with my wife and 2 daughters. Along with operating my DJ company, I also work as a Marketing Director at Service First Federal Credit Union.

History

BPM DJ Productions is a Sioux Falls based mobile DJ company owned and operated by me, Jake Hill. Often people ask me, "What does BPM stand for?" Well, BPM is an acronym for Beats Per Minute, a term widely used in the music industry to illustrate the tempo (speed) of a song. By knowing the BPM of songs, skilled DJ's can actually "mix" songs together - creating a seamless flow of music. I named my mobile DJ service BPM to illustrate that DJ'ing is actually a skill that is developed over years and years of practice. Anyone can push play on a CD player, but not everyone can "DJ!"

I began this exciting career all the way back in 1995 when I was a Freshman in High School. I provided the music for Junior High dances in my home town of Sweet Springs, MO. I was immediately hooked. I continued to develop my DJ skills throughout High School, spending many of my weekends DJ'ing school dances, weddings, and college parties. Upon graduating High School in 1998, I continued my education at Central Missouri State University in Warrensburg, MO.

My first year of college, I managed to obtain a DJ residency at the largest nightclub in town, The Star Bar. I DJ'ed at the club for five years, and perfected my DJ skills in the process. To show his appreciation of my work, the owner had a mural of my DJ name, Stylus, painted on the DJ booth. Throughout this time, I continued to DJ numerous weddings, school dances, and college events.

I graduated with a Marketing degree in 2002, and continued to focus on DJ'ing while working other full time jobs. In 2004, my wife and I moved to Sioux Falls, SD. After getting settled, I began DJ'ing weddings and school dances in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Iowa, and Minnesota. I was able to set myself apart from other mobile DJ's in the area with my personality and skill - both of which I have developed over my many years in the business. I love to DJ, and it shows in my work.

Now, I work a full time job during the week, and DJ wedding receptions and other events on the weekends. I also regularly make guest appearances at some of Sioux Falls' most popular night spots like the Vault, Liebrary Bar, and 18th Amendment.
